Check all your hives for activity

o   Clean out all dead outs and inventory frames for honey & pollen

Put on pollen/protein patties

o   Remember, raising brood is a resource consuming process (mid-summer they consume about 60lbs of honeys per month raising brood).

o   Leave sugar boards on for two more weeks. Than switch to liquid syrup once the nights get into 40’s if required.

Unwrap your hives

o   Leave insulation board under lid for two more weeks. This will help with warmth for the brood.

o   You can rotate your hive bodies anytime now (not required)

§  Clean off your bottom board

§  Leave your mouse guards on for a few more weeks. Allows the hive to be build up.

o   Location set up and ready

o   All the hardware ready

o   Review on how to install a package and queen placement

Spring treatment

o   Watch the minimum temperature for the product before you do the treatment. Do not waste your treatment because the calendar says you should be doing something by some date.

What should I being doing over the next 4 to 6 weeks?

·         Removing lid insulation board.

·         Remove sugar boards

·         Remove spaces

·         Feed sugar if required

·         Get ready to starting adding suppers (add another supper when others are 80% full)

·         Remove mouse guards open bottom entrance to 4”
